I thought Wisconsin would take down Kentucky in the Final Four and as always, with teams of this level, it could have easily gone the other way.
Just as both Wisconsin and Duke were trading blows last night with a plethora of lead changes it began to seem the Badgers were taking the game their way.
But, within minutes, something changed - mainly the aggressive and boundless play of two young freshmen Blue Devils named Tyus Jones and Grayson Allen. And, they weren't the only freshmen on the court. There was also Winslow and Okafor. I'm not even a Duke fan, but oh what's to come?
This was perhaps the most exciting basketball, excuse me, sports competition I've seen in quite some time.

Shameful...Exactly, Nothing But Shameful
Someone or a group of degenerates stole adaptive bikes owned by the non-profit Ride 2 Recovery last Tuesday from a storage unit at the Naval Medical Center San Diego.
I am a Navy veteran and also a cyclist and this equates to kicking the crutches out from under an injured person.
Cycling is very therapeutic for many wounded veterans. Fortunately I do not suffer any disabilities from my service, but I do know well how cycling can help those of us who do so simply to get away and only focus on the road or trail and what's ahead.
Imagine not being able to get a court and drill with a favorite hitting partner, get a match up with some friends or even go out and have some solo time with a backboard.
Shameful, truly.

Sit. No, Stay. Oh, Forget It.
This is for those of you who believe you can multitask (probably the most abused, least accurate term ever contrived) simply because you have the ability to walk (forget the gum-chewing part) and talk (usually clueless as to exactly what) at the same time.
When pulling up to an intersection and assuming you are doing mankind a favor by waiting to text someone about something probably awfully not important, by waiting until your vehicle comes to a halt, please try to remember...
...this sign means stop, NOT STAY!
Hanes - We have Family History
Way back in the first half of the century-prior, my aunt, then a very young child, fell victim to a fire and received severe burns to her face and torso.
My grandfather was a "fixer" at the Hanes plant in Winston Salem, NC, not in management, nor hobnobbing with the Hanes family. He was a very humble, hardworking and kind man.

War in the Land of the Morning Calm
The following was inspired by my father, who served us all and fought in a war rarely recognized. Thankfully he is still living, vibrant and often, my tennis partner.
In addition, I was more so inclined to write about this as I was the thankful recipient of a book (for which my father contributed) accounting for many events and the day-to-day lives of those who were ultimately called upon to perhaps provide the ultimate sacrifice - life.
Jim Campbell took the opportunity and the task of finding so many who had such wonderful stories about the War in Korea, a journey I know dealt with much emotion and self-regret. You can order his book, War in the Land of the Morning Calm, by contacting him at campbell_james@bellsouth.net.
I offer you this, as if I was ever there, knowing I never was, but now understanding what was lived, felt and perhaps most intentionally forgotten.
This is for my father, all who served with him, and all those who have, including the 40 Thousand Souls, and those who will do so again.

Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow
Over 20 years ago, when I was considering leaving the U.S. Navy, as much as I loved my career and serving our country, I knew I was thinking about the civilian world and not just that, but what I truly wanted to do - what did I enjoy and where did my previous successes come from?
While going back to school, I did some research as to how I could translate, transform and integrate not only my Navy experiences, but those inherent (so to speak) skills I was given at birth and those I acquired way before as a growing student, athlete and teen, before I left college and joined the U.S. Navy.

Cats Don't Love Tennis
Okay. I don’t dislike cats. I have had four in my adult years, but they don’t take to tennis like dogs do.
Dogs seem to innately get excited about any tennis ball in their vicinity. Of course, if the tennis ball is moving, it becomes quite a bit more interesting. Dogs seem to go well with tennis balls.
One may throw another round object near their favorite Labrador Retriever and he or she may simply glance up at you as if you thought you just discovered dirt. But, if you toss a tennis ball, then it is game on.
